Andre was born in Boston Massachusetts, by way of Seattle, Washington. He became a resident of Dallas 40 years ago upon completing his degree in Elementary Education from Bishop College in 1988. He immediately began his career as a full-time teacher with the Dallas Independent School District. In addition to teaching full-time, he also accepted a part-time position with the Adult Basic Education Department teaching GED classes at Polk Wisdom Library where he taught for 20 years. He is currently employed as an educator.
Andre has always been a very active member of the community and has developed great relationships personally and professionally. As a Community Supervision and Correction Officer for the Dallas County Adult Probation Department, Andre currently supervises high-risk offenders for felony domestic violence. Andre has mentored countless students from Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet, which gave him the idea and motivation to start the A.L. Turner Mentoring & Education Group, a nonprofit focused on assisting young men and women improve their life choices and overall outlook on life.
In Andre’s spare time, he actively serves the community and has served as Past President of the Alpha Sigma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. He is also married to Shaunte, and they have two beautiful children, Brandon and Alleyah. His hobbies include cooking and traveling.
